| Learning Mandarin the unique way. We will introduce the structural principles of Chinese characters, offer instruction on the recognition and writing of Chinese characters, and explain the 29 stroke types as well as some 90 characters that contain such strokes. For example,休(xiu1)means to have a rest. The left radical means “people”, the right radical means “wood”. In ancient script 休resembles the shape of a person leaning against a largest tree. After working for a long period of time, especially under a scorching noonday sun, a large tree is truly the best place to take a rest. So, it becomes much easier and funny for you to learn Chinese characters. According to the statistics from Modern Chinese Frequency Dictionary (published in 1986 by Beijing Language and Culture University), about 2,000 characters are in common used. That means that about 2,000 characters are needed in daily communication. You will have special training course to teach your Chinese characters. The process of learning Chinese is very different depending on the learner.
