I grew up in various churches, from Baptist to Assembly of God, going to events with visiting preachers such as Rodney Howard Brown and Jesse Duplantis often. I sincerely accepted the Lord around the age of nine and was baptized around there as well. To me, God was real -- a typical prayer...

| My faith story: | I was raised a Christian, but when I turned eighteen I decided I'd rather live for myself than for God. I turned to drugs and soon became a full blown addict. One day I couldn't take any more, but I didn't feel I could turn back to God. I do believe that when you are a Christian you can turn away from God but He'll never turn away from you. This being the case, He was always there, telling me to change. I felt Him lead me away from my current life in San Antonio, Texas, and one day I sold everything I owned and hopped on a bus destined for the furthest destination I could afford, which happened to be a deserted town in the wilderness of West Texas. From there I walked, not knowing where I was going, but only knowing I needed to find myself and God. I can honestly say that changed my life. I have been sober now for almost three years and just recently published an account of my life, "Finding Pecos: An Addict's Trip," as well as founded a publishing company to publish it, and other titles like it as well. |
